Well, it's been awhile, blog! I've really missed you! I had such good intentions to be a faithful writer, but you know...a BOY distracted me! But, since a new year has rolled around again, I think it's time to recommit. Remember? That whole one new thing a week deal? I think I can do it! Just you wait...
So what about this week? Well, I did get to see my very own (sort of) houseboat! I do have to share it, and in fact, it isn't really mine. But I do get to stay there as often as I want to, AND it's going to be such a beautiful thing this spring and summer. Kayaking right off the front, close to Kelly Point Park and Smith and Bybee Lakes (which we explored today too), a fun little beach. It will be so cozy, a veritable getaway in the city. I already love it.
And I did have the most amazing seed experience today. Seed experience? I know, sounds like a snoozer, something only a bio-geek could love, but have you ever taken apart a cattail seed head? It was an explosion of downy fluff, like an orange tabby had spontaneously shed right off the end of the reed. And all of those millions of little seeds--all suspended delicately from their own frilly parachutes. Quite a miracle of nature!

I stand corrected. A cattail typically contains 250,000 or so seeds. It just looked like millions.
